Mahindra has launched the XUV500 with the prices starting at Rs 10.8lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Mahindra has launched the XUV 500 in three variants, the W6 and the W8 (4X2 and 4X4 models under W8).



2011 Maruti Suzuki Swift – India’s best car launch ever.

India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki had some bad time for the last couple of days, labour strife for the last few weeks, an overall slowdown in the passenger car market
Between April and August, production was down 6.27% to 461,658 units. Domestic sales were lower by almost 17% at 77,086 units, though exports were up almost 19% to 14,356 units.

However the company has now a reason to be happy rather proud of, the new 2011 swift the company launched recently has received a very warm acceptance among the India customers.

108,000 — that’s the number of bookings Maruti Suzuki India had for its Swift car as of last weekend, the highest for any car in India so far.

Its the 2011 Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung, (English: International Automobile Exhibition) or famously known as the Frankfurt Motor Show.

General Motors are working strong on all possible area of the auto industry around the world to gain a stable position and regain its once had No. 1 position in automobile industry.
General Motors has huge plans for potential markets like India and had recently announced that it will launch a few products from the SAIC Motor stable, making two brands – Chevrolet and SAIC operate in India. To start off with, they will launch vehicles from the Wilung line-up which includes the CN-100 which is likely to compete with the Mahindra Xylo, Toyota Innova and the new MPV from Maruti etc.

M&M to launch ‘global SUV’ XUV500 by December 2011



















India's leading utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has officially declared that they would launch its ‘Global SUV’ the new XUV500 in India by December.

''We created a new segment with the Scorpio. There is a wide price gap between the Rs10-11 lakh and the Rs20 lakh range in the SUV segment. With XUV500, we believe a new segment can be created,'' said Vivek Nayer, senior vice-president marketing, automotive sector, at M&M.









However, Mahindra & Mahindra did not disclose the actual price of its new SUV, but from reports its clear that the new Global SUV will be positioned above its Scorpio and is expected to be priced between 10-16 lakh.

All this would give Mahindra XUV 500 an edge to compete against Honda CRV, Skoda Yeti, Mitsubishi Outlander, and Tata Aria in the Indian market.



M&M targets $15-18bn revenue from Defence Business.














Mahindra & Mahindra has said it is targeting revenues of upto $15-18 billion over the next 8-10 years from its defence business in India.
"Mahindra & Mahindra Group is looking at a revenue of about $ 15-18 billion through its land, aerospace and naval equipments in the next 8-10 years in India," Mahindra Defence Systems CEO, Khutub Hai, told media. He indicated that some of the revenues would accrue from the next fiscal.
Hai also said that currently the group's revenues from the defence business remained insignificant.


































































Ministry of defence has allocated a capital expenditure of about $100 billion on equipment purchases over the next 7-8 years. Currently, the country imports 70 per cent of its defence requirements.
"What we envisage is that going forward, with Indian companies developing capabilities, supply of defence equipment from domestic sources can account about 50 per cent of the requirement," he added





TATA Group plans big for general aviation sector.

Mercedes India achieves 40% growth.

Even during this period of poor car sales for many Indian & Global automobile manufacturers, Indian subsidiary of the German auto major Mercedes had reasons to be glad as the company has recorded a whopping 40% growth in the first eight months of 2011. Last year Mercedes sold 3,495 units during this period. But after facing a tough competition from rivals BMW, Audi which were outnumbering the sales of Mercedes, the luxury car major managed to sell 4,890 units from January to August this year.
