Students from IIT Bombay have developed EVO 1, India's first electric racecar. Powered by lithium-ion polymer batteries, the total development costed Rs. 15 lakh.

Bosch to relocate Adugodi plant to Bidadi in Bangalore
Auto component maker, Bosch Limited has announced its plans to relocate its Bangalore manufacturing plant from Adugodi to Bidadi.
Company plans to organize the relocation in two stages, with first stage during 2012 - 2013 involving plant construction and second stage during 2015 - 2016 with production starting in the first quarter of 2012. The plan is to have a bigger facility for its future expansion and growth.

DSK Motorwheels to invest Rs 300 cr for new plant for Hyosung bikes
DSK Motowheels, a DSK Group company has acquired the motorcycle business of Garware Motors Ltd, and henceforth entered into assembling and selling Hyosung bikes in India.

Mahindra & Mahindra to increase XUV500 production capacity to 5,000 units per month
Indian auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) will be increasing the monthly production of its latest offering, XUV500 to 5,000 units by around September-October.
The decision comes after a huge demand since it was launched and the company had increased its output to 4,000 units a month ago and still find difficult to meet the increased demand. Mahindra which produced over 8,000 units of its XUV500 in four months were sold out in just 10 days from its launch.

Mini India finds a new dealership in New Delhi
Mini India has announced the opening of Bird Automotive, its first dealership in Delhi. Located at Vasant Kunj, it will display the Mini India full range of Cooper Hatch, Mini Cooper Convertible and Mini Cooper S Countryman.

Audi India launched its performance saloon S4. The new offering from Audi is based on the A4 platform and has got some visual tweaks to distinguish it from the A4.

Mercedes GL63 AMG revealed
With the 2012 model of the GL63 launched on April this year, Mercedes has now released details of the new GL63 AMG.
The AMG variant of the new GL63 comes with a 5.5 liter Bi-Turbo V8 engine delivering 549 bhp of power. This new 2.5 tonne, seven seater model comes with a 40/60 front-rear biased 4 wheel drive system.

Jaguar-Land Rover plans Vehicle manufacturing plant in India
Under Tata Motors’ ownership, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is gradually expanding its presence in various markets and more importantly, taking steps to be more competitive. The company’s announcement last September about setting up its own engine manufacturing plant in the UK is a proof to this. A similar plant is also being planned for India, which JLR chief Ralf Speth confirmed to the media at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
