Ashok Leyland aims higher with Super Stallion in Defence sector.

Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leyland today said it is looking for a bigger space in the market for defence vehicles with its Super Stallion range of vehicles.

Ashok Leyland, which has been manufacturing and supplying the Stallion range of defence vehicles to the Indian Army, says it is time to ''stretch wings'' for a bigger play.



Ashok Leyland Stile Unveiled


Commercial vehicles major Ashok Leyland today unveiled its 7-8 seater multi-purpose vehicle `Stile', targeting the entry-level customer.

The Hinduja group company said it will initially have two variants of the Stile and plans to soon launch more models to expand its product portfolio and cater to the demands to different market segments.

Renault Nissan JV to invest USD 2.5 Billion in India.

The combination of Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co Ltd will invest $2.5 billion in India over the next five years, Renault-Nissan Alliance chief executive Carlos Ghosn said in Chennai today.

The French-Japanese alliance joins global carmakers which are spending large amounts on plant expansion, product development, and marketing despite slowing automobile sales in the country.



Car makers lay off workers and cuts production to avoid loss due to sales dip.

Car manufacturers are cutting down production and laying off workers as inventories pile up with a steady decline in demand and sales. Domestic passenger car sales declined by 9 per cent to 1,39,632 units in June 2013 from 1,53,450 units sold in June of 2012, data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) showed.

Indian auto industry demands excise cut as sales dip

As car sales in India continue to dip month after month, the automobile industry is looking for a stimulus package from the government, and particularly cuts in central excise duty across segments of the industry.Vehicle sales in June fell across categories, with medium and heavy trucks registering the maximum decline by 21 per cent.

Ford India recalls 972 Diesel EcoSports


Just two weeks into the launch of its much heralded sports utility vehicle EcoSport, US car maker Ford Motor Company has 'voluntarily recalled' 972 units of diesel EcoSport. Ford has cited concern regarding the current positioning of a Glow Plug module, which is used for regulating the functioning of a glow plug.

Datsun' first car K2 official sketches released.

Datsun has revealed sketches of its first model in 32 years that will make its world debut on July 15th in New Delhi. This debut also marks the return of the Datsun brand which Nissan is re-launching after it was axed in 1986.

The first new-generation Datsun is a five-seater hatchback designed for markets like India, Russia, Indonesia and South Africa and aimed at a highly aspirational middle class that is fast embracing car ownership.
