TVS launches new Apache RTR

Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company today launched the new Apache RTR 2012 series incorporating cosmetic changes. The Apache RTR series, a successful motorcycle for the Chennai-based automajor, had been launched with "new beast themed styling", a company statement said.



Mahindra & Mahindra to invest in Uttarakhand

Indian Auto Major Mahindra & Mahindra has proposed to invest Rs 3,000 crore to set up a manufacturing plant in Uttarakhand, according to the state government.

"Mahindra group has proposed to establish a project worth Rs 3,000 crore," the state government said in a statement. According to the statement, Mr. Pawan Goenka - President (Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors)Mahindra & Mahindra had a meeting with the State Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Bahuguna on 26th of April.


Skoda' new Fabia Scout launched

Czech car maker Skoda has now launched 'Scout' its semi off-road version of the well know hatchback 'Fabia', which was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo. Fabia can be greeted as the one of the most stylish hatchbacks offered on the Indian roads, but this cute hatch was given a several redesign to its current structure globally on its basic Mk4 platform to create a array of models like the Fabia vRS, Monte Carlo Special Edition and the Urban.

New Audi Q5 updates from Beijing Auto Show

Audi have made some updates to the young member its 'Q' family the Audi Q5. Unlike face lifts by other car maker, its not really possible to make out the updates visually on the new Q5 as the biggest change has happened under the hood. Audi has put in a hybrid powertrain for the first time in the Q5.

Nissan plans to become the largest car exporter from India

With the plans to launch of Datsun brand for emerging markets like India, Nissan is also planning to become the largest car exporter from India. Nissan, started car exports from 2010 in Chennai is currently the fastest growing car exporter from India based on the last fiscal car exports. However the car export market in India is dominated by Hyundai Motors and Maruti Suzuki India.


Toyota's new Electric Vehicle

Toyota Auto Body Co. has announced the rollout of a single-seat electric vehicle that features a charging time about the same as an iPad. The EV, which has a top speed of around 60 kilometers per hour, will come in two types for household and delivery service. The maker expects the super compact car, which will be emission free, will also be used in factories to transport workers.

Indian Commercial Vehicle market to double to 1.6 million units reports E&Y

The Indian commercial vehicle market will double to 1.6 million units in next five years thanks to the increase in infrastructure spend, rapid urbanisation and entry of major multinational players in the country said Ernst & Young in its latest report on 'Mega trends shaping the Indian commercial vehicle market.'

2012 Mercedes M Class in showrooms from this May

Mercedes-Benz will launch the stylish new M-class this May across India. The fully loaded M-class will initially be brought as a CBU (Completely Build Units) across showrooms. Mercedes would launch the new ML 350 CDI at a price tag of around Rs. 69 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai.



Lamborghini's concept SUV Urus unveiled at Beijing Motor Show

Ranger Rover unveiled the Victoria Beckham edition Evoque at Beijing Auto Show. Japanese Auto major Nissan's new India offering 'Datsun' will be a low-cost hatchback. Priced just over Rs. 2 lakh the models from Datsun Stable are expected to take on segment majors Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon. Nissan currently manufacturers cars at its plant near Chennai and is also considering to build a separate new factory for Datsun cars.

Mercedes inaugurates new truck manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu

Daimler AG, the German heavy vehicle manufacturer, will shift the production of its trucks from Pune in Maharashtra to Oragadam in Tamil Nadu from where it plans to export the vehicles to Africa and Asian countries, a company official said. Actros trucks and Mercedes buses are currently manufactured at this Pune Plant.




Mercedes Benz G63 AMG images out

Mercedes Benz have released the photographs of the new G63 AMG on internet ahead of the debut planned at the Beijing Motor Show in China.

Exteriors have some very notable changes which is dominated by the new deep front bumper with large cooling ducts, followed by new double slat grille design, side mounted exhaust pipes, 5 spoke alloy wheels. Mercedes plans to introduce the new G63 AMG as a replacement to the old G55 AMG.


Audi takes over Ducati for $1.12 billion.

German luxury carmaker, Audi, has agreed to buy Italian bikemaker, Ducati, for a sum of 1.12 billion USD. Audi will also inherit all of Ducati’s current financial liabilities.


MyTVS to open 100 outlets by 2014

MyTVS, a TVS group company into multi-brand service provider of post warranty cars would open its 100 outlets and 300 service franchisees across South India by 2014.



Currently the company operates 20 own outlets, including the new one opened recently nearby Tirupur and 63 service franchisees in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, a company release said .

Mahindra Bolero achieves 1 lakh sales mark

Indian Utility Vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra today announced that its flagship SUV Bolero crossed the one-lakh mark in sales in the last fiscal.



With sales of 1,00,686 units in the previous financial year as against 83,112 in FY 2010-11, the vehicle registered its highest ever annual sales since inception. Bolero also clocked its highest-ever monthly sales at 10,026 units in March

AMW Trucks raising $100 million for expansions

Asia Motor Works Ltd (AMW), India's third-largest heavy truck maker, plans to raise $100 million to fund its expansion in the next two to three years through a mix of debt and private equity.
























The funds will enable the company to build capacity to make new cabs, next generation trucks and expand manufacturing. The truck maker proposes to produce cabins locally, which were so far imported and assembled.

Maruti Ertiga launched, price starting at Rs. 5.89 lakh

Maruti’s first foray into the MPV segment, the Ertiga has been launched in India at a price of Rs 5.89 lakh for the base petrol variant, ex-Delhi. The Ertiga is being offered in six variants – three with a petrol engine and three with a diesel and will square off against the Innova and Xylo. It will be available in seven colours.

Maurti Suzuki official joins Hyundai Motors India

Hyundai Motors India has absorbed Mr. Rakesh Srivastava from Maruti Suzuki (Chief General Manager and Commercial business head)and appointed as vice-president of Hyundai's sales operations across India.

This is the second major placement for Hyundai after it snared Mr. Arvind Saxena, another marketing veteran from Maruti, as Hyundai's Director (Sales and Marketing) in India.


Jaguar to launch F-type, pure sports car

TATA Motors led Jaguar Land Rover is set to build its first pure sports car since 1975 as it bids to take on the giants of the sector. The last pure sports car launched by the company was the Jaguar E-Type between 1961 and 1975, which quickly became an icon.


Honda Motors India plans to raise Rs. 2,100 crore

Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), a Honda Motor Company with business JV with Usha International is under the process of raising Rs. 2,100 crore fund for India operations.

The Japanese auto major currently holds around 97% stake in HSCI and with Indian market growing, this move is assumed to tighten its grip in the Indian operations.

Toyota India begins export of Etios and Liva to South Africa

Japanese auto major Toyota Motors today commenced the export of sedan "Etios" and hatchback " Etios Liva" to South Africa from India.

At a function at the Ennore Port, the first batch of cars was exported to South Africa in the presence of top officials of Toyota and its India partner Kirloskar.























The export models are being built at Toyota’s Bidadi unit near Bangaloree and are being customised to suit local requirements. The first batch of 247 units was flagged off by Karnataka Home and Transport Minister R Ashoka and Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani. Toyota aims to export about 20,000 units each year
