2012 Toyota Camry launched

Japanese auto major Toyota Motor Corp. launched its much anticipated 2012 avatar of the legendary Camry in India.

Launched at an introductory price of Rs. 23.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), Toyota officials confirmed that unlike the predecessor which was completely imported, the new Camry would be assembled locally at a new line in Toyota Kirloskar Motor's (TKM) 2nd plant in Bidadi, Karnataka.



Powering the new Camry is a 2.5 liter Dual VVT-i Petrol engine pumping out max power of 181PS @ 6000rpm and peak torque of 231Nm @ 4100rpm. Power transmission is handled by a 6-speed automatic transmission system.

Toyota confirms that the new Camry would by available only as a Petrol variant as Diesel is not offered in Toyota's premium segment globally. Offered in 4 colours silver metallic, white pearl crystal shine, beige metallic and attitude black, the new Camry has over 90% of the parts reworked.

Along the launch, Toyota officials announced that the bookings and deliveries has also started.

Presiding the launch was Mr. Hiroshi Nakagawa (Managing Director), Mr. Sandeep Singh (Deputy Managing Director), Toyota Kirloskar Motors and Mr. Michihiko Sato, Chief Engineer, Toyota Motor Corporation.
