The Korando, Mahindra-owned SsangYong’s first SUV built on a monocoque platform is powered by a 173bhp 2 -litre turbo-diesel engine mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
The 4.4 meteres long SUV would be offered in a five-seater version with an expected luggage space of 486 litres.
Unlike other SUVs in the market, Korando's sporting styling and design gives a unique identity and the element of muscle along the body, wheel arches with a 17 inch tyres and a high beltline gives an aggressive appeal but the small headlights, undersized grille and a chin that ducks under the body, give the nose a soft look.
Mahindra SsangYong will launch the Korando in India later this year. Mahindra would be positioning the Korando slightly above the XUV500, which means a base price of Rs 15 lakh can be expected.
