Updated SsangYong Rexton debuted at Busan Motor Show

Mahindra & Mahindra company SsangYong has showcased an updated version of the Rexton SUV at the Busan Motor Show, dubbed the Rexton W. The new SUV sports major styling upgrades and all-new powerplants.

The new Rexton W gets a projector headlamps with LED-surrounds and LED fog-lamps. Chrome-lined grille got redesigned and is now wider with a larger SsangYong logo and looks much smarter than before.

Front bumper design is new and much more aggressive than the old model. The new wheel-arches blend well with the overall design. It also gets integrated LED turn-indicators on the wing mirrors.

The Rexton’s trademark Z-shaped C-pillar remains unchanged and rear styling gets minor changes only with a re-shaped tail lights. The rear bumper-line flows well with the boot.














On the inside, the SUV has received minor upgrades - lighter shades and improved plastics.


A new 'e-XDi200 active' turbo diesel engine powers the Rexton W and is mated with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The  new 154bhp 1,998cc in-line four-cylinder diesel motor replaces the current 2.7-litre engine sourced from Mercedes. 


A new 2.2-litre twin turbocharged diesel motor, developing a whopping 221bhp, is also in the pipeline. However, it isn’t clear what engine option will be offered when the Rexton is launched in India.


Company plans to launch the updated Recton W in Korea by June-July 2012 and followed by this Mahindra plans launch in India.
